We offer porcelain and composite resin dental fillings in our Chicago dental office to restore your smile to optimal health and beauty. Known as "white fillings", these restorations are an alternative to standard metal fillings, made from tooth colored materials that are sculpted and adhered to teeth to repair decay.

Dental Filling Procedure

The exact procedure for your tooth filling may vary based on the size, location and type of tooth filling. Dr. Theodore will remove any existing fillings and prepare the tooth for the new filling. She will apply a tooth colored, bio-compatible resin directly to the tooth and cure it using a special light. Porcelain fillings, also known as inlays or onlays, are made in a dental laboratory and cemented into place in our Chicago dentist office. Dr. Theodore may place a temporary filling on the tooth to offer protection in between visits.

Dental Filling FAQs

What is the best type of filling? There is no-one-size-fits-all solution in dentistry. Dr. Theodore will evaluate your condition and recommend the best choice for your personal situation. In our office, we use tooth colored filling for the most natural appearance. Today's ceramic materials are highly durable even for teeth in the back of the mouth. Does Dr. Theodore fix broken fillings? If you have a lost or broken filling, contact our office to schedule an appointment. We make all attempts to see patients for dental emergencies on the same day. Dr. Theodore will provide prompt attention to repair the damaged tooth and restore the dental filling. Please do not attempt to "glue" or attach the filling to your tooth as you could cause further damage. Can you replace my metal fillings with white fillings? We are able to replace worn or unsightly metal fillings with more comfortable and natural looking alternatives, sometimes within one dental visit.
